KNOWLEDGE AND COMPASSION
Long ago, when the world was still in the making of itself, there was no knowledge. There was no common sense, no feelings and no superiority. There was no leadership or judging, no lost confusion or anticipation. There was simply a beautiful earth, with a sky and an earth to tred upon; trees and mountains and rocks, lizards and peacocks, polar bears and unicorns.
There were also select humans, living among these beautiful animals in harmony and companionship. These people were never hungry; they had not been created in that way. The only necessity that served them well was the act of sleeping, which gave them time to let their hard working brains rest, and to gain energy for the next day to come. They all worked well together, making the world look pretty and helping out the animals when needed. They were so close indeed, that the humans would know, at all times, when and where the creatures were at times of the sunny day. Even though the two species were so diverse, they trusted each other with everything; they acted like siblings, and they were. This is how they were created, and it would always stay like this. It would be an important teaching to the new kids who arrived; year after year to take the place of an elder human being. This is how it went. This is how it is to this very day and night.
There was something very special about these people and this village. They were called the Knowlie people, and they really loved their name. They soon named the area where they lived too, with Zacknra. In Zacknra, weather was very abundant and almost a second creator. By this, every day there was a new weather that came upon Zacknra, affecting it suddenly different every single time. However this did not bother the people, though some may think so at first. They were the spirits behind all of this geniuscraft, they were proud of it and liked the idea greatly. Rain one day, mud balls the next, and a full blast of hot wind throughout the next day sounds completely entertaining, and it most certainly was.
Now, this little area, not yet a town, did live in quiet harmony. However, as anyone would have it, a bad day struck Zacknra. In reality, there are no bad days in the vocabulary of Zacknra, but this one was extremely horrible, something never seen before. This day brought Thunder to life, representing the bad days of the earth lamenting for reasons of her own. Although she was having a not great day, the earth was in the middle of creation, and could not stop even for a rest. It was a human being in the making, but since the weather was ugly and new, this new born didn’t have it so nicely, as its fellow beings already alive in the world. The weather affected the baby and made it differently than how it was supposed to be; bad different.
This child, Zok, looked different and smelled different from all the other humans. Smell was also a large piece of the Knowlie culture. If good smell surrounded an individual, it meant that they were happy with their life and perhaps willing to help one with a sour smell; the humans who struggles with their daily life. As one can imagine, Zok smelled rather sour; it was picked on for being different, something that had never occurred to the Knowlies in all their long lifetime.
After many hurtful actions toward poor Zok, a timid Knowlie named Jossie heard about the happenings and intervened. She was upset that people were picking on Zok, and she demanded that they stop, immediately. As she almost scolded the bullies; they could see her serious look meant everything to her, thus stopped bothering little Zok. With this incident solved, Zok felt very thankful to Jossie, for he could not have survived without her willpower and courage. He greatfully thanked her, and this is how they formed a bond. Thus forth, Compassion for one another came into being. The two became good friends, a new word put into the vocabulary book of the Knowlies. Jossie and Zok spent every minute they could together, and helped the animals together; wandered around Zacknra in toe. Since Zok didn’t have the given knowledge like normal Knowlies, Jossie took the chance to teach Zok the ways of the Knowlies, and the culture that passed generations. With this kind gesture, Jossie and Zok grew even closer, and knew everything about each other. People here say ‘we are like brothers’; that is how we would describe Zok and Jossie, in our own language. In Zacknra, nobody had siblings of their own; they were kind of all just one big, big family.
From then on, both Zok and Jossie carried around a great scent, and everyone got a clear whiff of the ongoing and spreading smell; the two had become very famous in Zacknra. Their names would become a legend to the generations to come, and their compassionate story would live on to all the species on the world; the Knowlies and all other human to come, and animals of all kinds.
